Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026 | Effective immediately
Unlike conventional image converters, TrueHEIC operates entirely client-side inside your web browser using compiled WebAssembly (WASM). When you select or drag HEIC/HEIF files, they are decoded and re-encoded locally in your computer or mobile phone's memory. No file data, image content, or EXIF metadata is ever transmitted to our servers or any third-party infrastructure.
1. Information We Do NOT Collect (Your Images)
When utilizing TrueHEIC, you retain complete ownership and confidentiality over your files:
- No Image Uploads: Files are never transferred across the internet.
- No Cloud Storage or Caching: Converted files reside strictly in temporary browser memory (`Blob` objects) and are immediately discarded when you close or reload the browser tab.
- No Account Required: You do not need to register, provide an email address, or create credentials to convert unlimited images.
- EXIF Privacy Removal: By default, TrueHEIC strips sensitive EXIF metadata, including GPS coordinates, camera serial numbers, and device fingerprints, preventing accidental location leaks.
2. WebAssembly (WASM) & Local Execution
TrueHEIC uses modern web technologies including JavaScript, WebAssembly, and HTML5 Canvas. The conversion libraries run within your browser's sandboxed security model. You can verify this independently at any time by opening your browser's Developer Tools (Network tab) or disconnecting your device from Wi-Fi/cellular data while converting.
3. Cookies, Analytics & Advertising (Google AdSense)
To keep TrueHEIC 100% free and sustain hosting infrastructure, we utilize third-party advertising and analytics services:
Google AdSense
Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads on TrueHEIC based on a user's prior visits to our website or other websites on the Internet.
- Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- Alternatively, you can opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
- In compliance with European Union regulations (GDPR), non-essential cookies and AdSense scripts are only initialized after your explicit consent via our cookie preferences banner.
Analytics (Google Analytics & Vercel Analytics)
We use Google Analytics (GA4) and Vercel Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregate telemetry regarding visitor count, device types, screen resolutions, and general traffic sources. This data helps us improve converter compatibility across different mobile and desktop browsers. No personally identifiable information (PII) is captured.
4. GDPR & CCPA/CPRA Compliance
If you reside within the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or California:
- Right of Access & Portability: Because we do not store your images, names, or accounts on our servers, there is no personal photo data to request or delete.
- Cookie Consent: You have the right to withdraw or modify your cookie consent at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage or using our banner controls.
- No Sale of Personal Information: We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data or images to third parties.
5. Third-Party Links & External Services
Our website may contain links to external sites or documentation. TrueHEIC is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party websites. We encourage you to read the privacy statements of each site you visit.
